Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

A delicious fusion of Philly cheesesteak flavors and the easy preparation of sloppy joes, perfect for a cozy evening or a quick lunch.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 bell peppers, diced
  • 30 ml olive oil
  • 900 g lean ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 30 ml Worcestershire sauce
  • 80 ml BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
  • 240 ml beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Provolone cheese
  • Gluten-free or regular rolls

Instructions

  1. Prepare: Begin by chopping the garlic and dicing the onion and bell peppers.
  2. Heat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add garlic and onion, sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add the diced bell peppers and sauté for an additional 5-6 minutes until soft.
  4. Brown the ground beef, salt, and pepper in the skillet for 8-10 minutes until fully cooked, breaking it apart while cooking.
  5. Stir in the Italian seasoning and mix well.
  6. Pour in the BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and white wine vinegar, and stir to combine.
  7. Mix the cornstarch with beef broth in a separate bowl until dissolved, then add to the skillet and stir well.
  8. Simmer: Reduce heat to medium and let the sauce thicken for 5-10 minutes, stirring regularly.
  9. Top: Place a generous portion of the beef mixture onto rolls and top with a slice of Provolone cheese—melt under a broiler or warm it in the pan with a lid.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!
