Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 bell peppers, diced
- 30 ml olive oil
- 900 g lean ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 30 ml Worcestershire sauce
- 80 ml BBQ sauce
- 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
- 240 ml beef broth
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- Provolone cheese
- Gluten-free or regular rolls
Instructions
- Prepare: Begin by chopping the garlic and dicing the onion and bell peppers.
- Heat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add garlic and onion, sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent.
- Add the diced bell peppers and sauté for an additional 5-6 minutes until soft.
- Brown the ground beef, salt, and pepper in the skillet for 8-10 minutes until fully cooked, breaking it apart while cooking.
- Stir in the Italian seasoning and mix well.
- Pour in the BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and white wine vinegar, and stir to combine.
- Mix the cornstarch with beef broth in a separate bowl until dissolved, then add to the skillet and stir well.
- Simmer: Reduce heat to medium and let the sauce thicken for 5-10 minutes, stirring regularly.
- Top: Place a generous portion of the beef mixture onto rolls and top with a slice of Provolone cheese—melt under a broiler or warm it in the pan with a lid.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
